Full-Service Grooming & Spacious Boarding Facilities for Your Special Pet Graphic Accent

Pet Grooming

Our expert full-time groomer, Cassandra, has more than 12 years of experience as a groomer, with certification from the New York School of Dog Grooming in Manhattan. Cassandra loves animals and handles all of her clients with care and warmth.

Gulford-Jamestown Veterinary Hospital

Full grooming services include nail trims, ears plucked and cleaned, pads of the feet shaved out, sanitary clip, prep-out clip, premium shampoo and conditioner, finishing clip, and bandana or bows.

Other services we provide include de-shed treatments for those breeds that have a single, short flat coat (Pugs, Labradors, Miniature Pinchers, Rat Terriers, Chihuahuas, etc.). Furminator and curry brushes work great on these breeds. De-shed and undercoat removal treatments are charged according to the time required for each individual dog and is added to the cost of a full groom.

For breeds with double coats (Golden Retrievers, Siberian Huskies, Malamutes, St. Bernards, Great Pyrenees, Samoyeds, Shetland Sheepdogs, Eskimo Spitz, Cavalier King Charles, Pekingese, etc.), Cassandra offers undercoat removal/maintenance. Keeping these breeds’ undercoat in great condition keeps them cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Shaving down a double-coated breed damages the undercoat and causes new fur to be softer and sparser than the time before.

Puppies and senior pets require extra TLC. Cassandra is extremely gentle with all pets and makes sure they are calm and comfortable during the grooming session.

In addition to full grooming services, pets who may not need a trim but do need cleaning can schedule an appointment to be bathed by our experienced staff. Included in the price of the bath is a thorough washing and brushing, nail trim, ear cleaning, and anal gland expression. Baths are available for non-boarders by appointment Monday through Friday.

Please note that all pets must be current on vaccinations at the time of their bath or groom appointment.

Pet Boarding

Guilford-Jamestown Veterinary Hospital offers a complete boarding facility for your dogs, cats, and pocket pets. We know it can be hard to leave your pet even for just a night. That’s why we are always happy to send you pictures, texts, or emails throughout your pet’s stay so that you can see how happy and safe your pet is while you are away.

All of our pet guests enjoy their own individual spacious accommodations, depending on their size. Each pet’s area is kept clean all day so that your pet feels calm and comfortable throughout his or her stay. Food, water, bedding, and frequent exercise in our safe and secure fenced-in runs are included with every stay.

Cats are housed in a separate room from dogs, and patients with special medical needs may be boarded in our treatment area for close veterinarian supervision.

All pets staying with us are required to be current on their vaccinations. If your pet is not up to date on his or her shots, we will be happy to take care of that with a scheduled checkup.

We recommend making a reservation well in advance when at all possible since our boarding facility does fill up, especially around holidays. Contact us at (336) 852-0200. Please note that we do require 24 hours notice of cancellation.

Graphic Accent

For over 20 years, we have been clients at Guilford Jamestown Veterinary Hospital. While a lot of things have changed in 20 years, one thing has remained the same. Dr. Karen Kennedy and her unparalleled team of doctors continue to provide stellar service to our family of pets. We cannot thank them enough for all the love and care they have shown our family over the years.
The Payne Family

Everyone at the practice from the veterinarians to the technicians to the front office staff know you and your pet by name even before you check in. It’s a little like being Norm on Cheers.

We’ve been bringing our pets to GJVH since 1989 for top notch veterinary care. Now that we live across town, it’s not as convenient, but the quality care and helpful staff keep us coming back.

I sometimes think my dogs get better medical care at GJVH than I do at my doctor’s office. From the courteous front desk staff to the friendly technicians to the terrific veterinary care – I know my dogs get better medical care than I do!
